'The Wick'

Another assignment for my school's literacy magazine The Oracle. This is a layout for a story some student wrote called "The Wick". They asked me to paint what you see above and that they would add a black background and smoke from the candle. Fairly simple, but I am personally proud of the technique of the painting, especially the way I painted the candle (which got a tad bit "whited-out" in the picture, because the scan made it bright. It will look better on a darker background.) It is acrylic on paper, and I hope you enjoy it.
