Literature Text

Thoughts swirl like wild fire.
The world a confused storm
Holding questions that meet no answers.
Each flame holds a light
That only it feels is bright.
In a cloud of complexity and uncertainty,
These flames feel that they’ve discovered
A flame that remains calm.
However, a single flame still sways
To its own uncertainty,
For it is only one
With only a partial view.
Can only one flame be so bright?
To be correct to what is considered right?
Or must fire meet fire,
Exchanging the light of their discoveries
And creating an even brighter flame?

We exist, and we create each flame
As individuals.
We light the world with a unique flame,
But as we light the way,
One flame at a time,
We also create a new world
That continues to guide us back.
What began as individual fire
Now collides into a storm of abstraction,
Aimlessly contrasting or complementing.
This storm we create.
This storm we light.
But will our storm ever end?
It cannot.
For a new flame shall always shine,
To test the fires
That have long burned so bright.
No answer is ever stable.
So the storm treads on,
And even now,
A new flame
Has been born.
Just a random poem I attempted to write today in class. It is meant to describe how one way of thinking about the world is not the only way to see things and that each way ends up better if seen together as well. It seems to contradict, but it shows that one way isn't the only way. The inspiration behind this was a discussion in AP Euro about existentialism and logical empiricism. Basically the two concepts being put together almost. That the world around us, or society I suppose, is generally formed by the thoughts of each individual. So putting "Individual around the world" and "world around the individual" concepts and showing a way they coexist.
