This is my 3rd painting using the pointillist (divisionist) style. Its acrylic on canvas, 16 x 20 inches. I used the sharpened/ slightly sanded ends of two different brushes to make the dots. In the background are two mountians and the morning sky. In the middleground are the various pine trees, creating a forest. And in the foreground there are multiple flowers. For the larger purple flowers in the meadow, I optically blended pure red and blue dots to make the purple color (Or at least attempted), which are on a slight hill which is why they get larger as the meadow continues inward, towards the bottom left.
Lovely painting. I had the same problem when trying to make purple from pure red and blue when I tried pointalism with one of my ink pen drawings. Purple seems really difficult to make using this kind of technique...But your flowers seem to read as purple in my eyes.
Really good color palette chosen here: the bright basic hues are cheerful and almost vintage. The curving lines in the sky and hills are almost echoing, but differ enough to be interesting. I would question the curve of the turquoise line around the meadow, though. It's a different type of curve, with organic faults, not idealized like the hills and sky.
