Loose Reproduction: The Mountains at Collioure

Oil on canvas, 11 x 14 inches. Now....the canvas was apparently not primed for use of oil paint, something (I think the canvas) cause the paint to act up on me and stiffen up. so I struggled with that...Brushstrokes are a bit sloppy and blended too much. AND It's important to know that I was not aiming for an exact reproductions of Derain's work. My aim was to incorporate aspects to my own style and experiment and change aspects around to try things out that were going through my head. For example, I edited the way the trees looked, I wanted more contrast and definition compared to the original. Not saying that my way is better, I'm just seeing what I can do with Fauvism and it's ideas, and this is the easiest way to train that up. Main purpose of this work was to experiment into Fauvism, which I'd like to play around with, it's a bit sloppy here, yes, but this was just practice, and the paint acted up cause of a poor canvas (it was smoother than my other canvases, and I don't know any better, I do now for sure.)
